Christmas Cheer

For many, Christmas is a time to gather as family and friends, sharing a meal, opening gifts and celebrating the birth of Christ; however, for some, it is a time of loneliness, sadness and stress.

As part of the Care Ministry at the bridge, we take the time during the Christmas season to share God’s love to others through Christmas Cheer. The purpose is to remember and support those in our church and or community who have gone through a hardship such as job loss, illness, divorce, death, etc., due to unavoidable circumstances, or for those new to Canada. Our hope is to care for them in a tangible way and bless them during this time by providing them some Christmas cheer.

This year, our goal is to provide approximately 60–70 families/individuals with gifts, groceries, gift cards (Walmart, Loblaws, gas, dining, movies, iTunes, etc.) and for necessities.

The bridge will be collecting donations from October 28 until November 11.

If you and/or your LifeGroup would like to bless a family/individual this Christmas, please contact the Christmas Cheer team by emailing: christmascheer@thebridgemarkham.com from October 1.

Details of the family/individual (i.e. gender and age) to be provided.

Depending on the number and value of items received, the Christmas Cheer team may redistribute to others based on need. As such, we ask that gifts not be wrapped (gift bags are ok) and larger gift card donations be split into $25.00 denominations.

Please note, donated items and gift cards will not be eligible for tax receipts. If you would like to make a monetary contribution, please indicate Christmas Cheer on your offering envelope.
