The Centre for Dreams is a place in the Markham community where adults with developmental disabilities can come to build relationships and enhance their lives through education in life skills, academics and vocational training.

BLUE DOOR

MOSAIC INTERFAITH OUT OF THE COLD PROGRAM
On Monday nights each winter, we open our doors to those in our community experiencing homelessness or in need of food and clothing. All who come leave with a lunch for the next day and transportation tokens. For those guests who stay overnight, beds are provided for a safe, warm place to sleep and breakfast is provided in the morning. (On hold this season)

MARKHAM FOOD BANK

The leanest time of the year for Canadian food banks is July to August. The Markham Food Bank has difficulty providing the minimum amount of grocery support during those months and can give very little variety. Our annual SHARE food drive helps fill this gap!

RISE SUPPORT CENTRE

Formerly the Markham Stouffville Crisis Pregnancy Center, the RISE Support Centre has served women in the Markham-Stouffville area for more than 20 years. They provide free care and support for unexpected or challenging pregnancies, as well as support following reproductive loss.

SHARE Food Drive

The Coldest Night of the Year is a family-friendly walk to support those experiencing homelessness. On February 24th, 2024, join Blue Door at the Richmond Hill event to show your support and raise funds for Blue Door programs and initiatives.

INTERVARSITY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

Ashley works as the National Director of High School Ministry. Her work involves helping high school students to see their high school as a place of mission. Her hope is for high school students to grow as disciples of Jesus by inviting their friends and teachers to engage in faith conversations at school. She also engages the wider church community to invest in the lives of high school students as they journey through such formative years.

WITH SIM CANADA

Ashley is an Office Administrator for SIM’s Lifeworthy project which brings hope and help to those impacted by human trafficking in the GTA. Working closely with Director, John Cassells, Ashley assists Lifeworthy’s ministries which provides mentoring to young women, support for parents whose daughters are still being exploited and training and consulting for churches and organizations.

WITH ATHLETES IN ACTION

Athletes in Action is a ministry of Power to Change that seeks to help people know Jesus and experience His power to change the world through sports. Caleb oversees the training and resourcing of local churches in sports ministry, as well as oversees the training of athletes and coaches throughout the year in Ontario.

Rahab Ministry is a compassion ministry geared towards empowering women and children in the sex trade to be liberated and restored. Joanna works in an outreach capacity with women in Scarborough, North York and Etobicoke.

LEADS Sri Lanka

Sexual abuse is a traumatic experience that mars and scars the lives of innocent children. Annually, a tragic number of little lives are made desolate at the hands of broken people and a negligent society. LEADS supports survivors of child abuse to heal and rebuild their worth and purpose. the bridge provides monthly financial resources to help a survivor of child abuse in Jaffna receive residential or non-residential therapeutic care and legal support at a child-safe space conducive to their recovery.

INTERNATIONAL MISSIONARIES

CINDY LAI: CAMBODIA

Cindy serves in children’s ministry with OMF in Cambodia. She is involved in children’s outreach and discipleship as a part of a church planting team that seeks to establish indigenous (local) biblical churches in Cambodia. The goal is to point children (local or third culture/missionary kids) to the Lord.

KENISHA PARADYS: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Kenisha is serving in Domincan Republic with Christian Hope Community Association. CHCA has been and continues to advocate for the children of this community to receive an education and take advantage of opportunities that weren’t afforded to their parents. To-date, there are now 56 students enrolled. Through the prayers, and financial support of sponsors and donors, and the dedication of CHCA’s passionate staff, this community has come to see the tangible difference in the lives of the children who were previously enrolled in ECC school; kids who could not read or write have gone on to pursue Secondary schooling, something that is a rarity in Barahona.

SAYERS FAMILY: SOUTH AFRICA

The Sayers have been working in South Africa with the Emmanuel International Mission for the past eleven years. Don is a pastor with the Living Hope Bible Church and advisor for the African Hope Trust offering Safe Homes for children who are orphans due to the AIDS epidemic.

STEINFIELD FAMILY: SPAIN

Mark is partnering with Salem leadership to establish a Bible school in Madrid and Kim is engaged with family ministries in the church. In addition to their ministry in Spain, Mark and Kim both serve on the Eurasia Region’s lead team. Mark oversees education initiatives in the region, and Kim provides member care the region’s global workers. They have three children: Alyssa, Madeleine, and Caleb.
