As many of you may know, the government of Ontario and Premier Doug Ford have indicated churches can reopen as of this past week at 30% capacity. While we’re all eager to gather together again for worship at our building, we’ve decided that we will be patient and wait for a more stable and safe time to do so.

As the bridge, our overarching value that drives our direction has always been love. With that in mind, and at the forefront of our decision making, we believe the best way to continue to love each other, our neighbours and the community is to keep safe and continue to worship from our home. We received many responses from you through our reopening survey that indicated a hesitation to return immediately, and a preference to continue to worship online until safety can be ensured.

At the bridge we have always provided a warm and welcoming environment, with the current restrictions, we believe it is best to wait until conditions allow us to provide a more intentional, intelligible, and intimate experience.  A worship experience that is more in keeping with who we are.   If restrictions continue to ease, and it is safe to do so, our hope is to reopen our physical building toward the Fall.

It’s kind of odd to talk about churches reopening, because, we as the bridge, have never been closed. We’ve never been more open, in terms of involvement and engagement. True, it is an online experience, but a spiritual experience, nonetheless.  Over these past months, our physical building has been shut down, but we as Christ’s body, Jesus’s church family, have never been closed. .

We have experienced God in Worship, through the Daily Bridge, and within our online discipleship pathway.  You have been engaging in online cafes, Alpha, and have been faithful in meeting online with your LifeGroups

Our family ministry continues to meet and grow online. Our creative team has been doing an incredible job providing a full and impactful online worship experience that has expanded our reach beyond Markham region. You, as the bridge, have been incredibly generous in your giving and we have been able to continue to reach and impact our community in it’s time of need.  This is what it means to be THE CHURCH. We have always been the church, and nothing will ever stop that; we are seeing significant growth in the fulfillment of God’s purposes.

Our purpose in our approach is to be intentional in the way we care for people and carry out the mission of the bridge. We continue to connect people with God, each other, and our world in a safe and purposeful way.

We encourage you to engage with our online worship services, our Daily Bridge, and our ministry programs. We love you; we miss you, we are praying for you.
