Kidzone: April 3 Update

Apr 3, 2020Kidzone Online

Good Morning Kidzone Parents & Guardians,

What a gift this season change has been! I hope you are enjoying some fresh air and sunshine every day: whether it be in your backyard or taking a walk. The difference that the outdoors provides for our overall physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being is astonishing! Again, taking care of yourself is one of the BEST gifts that you can give to your family and children.

As your kids head into some online school next week, I am praying for each of them and for you as you navigate another ‘new normal’. We at the bridge want to partner with and support you. Never hesitate to reach out if you OR your child need an ear to listen, someone to talk to, or pray with. Please remember, these resources are a GIFT to help equip & empower you- there is no expectation tied to them. I am so grateful that we can still be WITH you and CONNECT with you and your kids because of technology! You can access this update and past updates anytime at: https://thebridgemarkham.com/kidzoneonline/

EASTER IS AROUND THE CORNER! Check out https://easterinmarkham.com/ for more information. I have also put together a page of FANTASTIC Easter resources for you and your kids to utilize over the next couple of weeks- no need to search them out, as they are RIGHT HERE with all the links provided.

1) Keep having your kids participate with you in worship through song for the bridge online experience each Sunday! If you take a photo of your family and post it on Instagram, please tag @bridgekidzone & @thebridgemarkham, and we would LOVE to repost and share the way your family is utilizing our online platform to gather together to worship Jesus.

  • Our Kidzone “worship song of the week” is, “HOSANNA ROCK!” You can access it HERE or in the Easter resource page listed above. Let’s encourage our kids to PRAISE JESUS for His love and the way He has saved us from our sin!
  • I want to encourage all our families to create a “FAMILY OFFERING” envelope. The purpose of this will be for your kids to continue their practice of worshiping God through giving! The physical act of putting their offering into the envelope themselves each week is so powerful and helps to continue to foster their joy to give and build up the church. In the coming weeks, I’ll give instructions for ways to then give this over to the bridge when we are physical back together.
  • On Fridays, you’ll continue to receive an email for your child’s specific age grouping with a video of a leader or volunteer sharing our Gospel Light curriculum lesson of the week, and an attached follow-up activity.

2) There is an attachment here that includes a list of resources organized by category for you (Biblical tools, outreach & mission ideas, COVID-19 explanations for kids…), to help lessen your time and need to search. It is always evolving and you can access that list here. Please feel free to share it with your friends! I will be updating this with more emotional support resoures for kids this week.

3) We’d love to have your kids join us at our @bridgekidzone Instagram account LIVE Monday to Friday at 12:30pm for lunch-time stories! We are reading a wide variety of books at varying levels and can’t wait for your kids to join in community together each day. Invite your friends to join us!

In addition to our lunch-time stories, you can head on over to our good friend Moreen Maskery’s Instagram account @stouffvillemusicroom for “Kids Make Music with Mo!” every Tuesday at 1pm.

4) Our weekly devotional time called, “Kidzone Klub” has 2 episodes now! These are devotionals delivered FOR kids, BY kids every Wednesday! Our first two are posted on our @bridgekidzone Instagram account or you can also access them at: https://thebridgemarkham.com/kidzoneonline/

5) THANK YOU for the ways you are loving your communities and neighbors SO WELL! We love it when we see you tag us @bridgekidzone with all your creative ideas! It’s a great way for us to encourage each other.

This week, our outreach challenge is to encourage your child to consider giving some of their own money toward one of a few worthy causes: The Markham Crisis Pregnancy center, The Markham Food Bank or our own church’s Good Friday offering that mobilizes being able to help our community during Covid-19.
There is SO much power in our kids understanding the value of giving to others and sacrificing to help serve their community. Talk and pray together about which option may be just right for them to give to!

Continue to tag us @bridgekidzone on Instagram with how you creatively love your neighbors. There is a GREAT Easter challenge to share with a neighbor- so make sure to check out the Easter resource link above!

Please never hesitate to reach out if a need arises. It is my joy to walk alongside you! Praying for you all.

In His Love,
Pastor Shauna
