Winter Clothing Drive

Fundraising

Isn’t it cold outside? We will be doing a collection of new or gently used winter clothing for York Region District School Board! If you have any winter-related clothing – jackets, snow pants, mittens, boots, hats, sweaters, for children between the age of 8-13 (grade 3 to 8), and you would like to usher in 2023 by clearing out the closets and bless some families at the same time, please bring them on January 15th or 22nd, we will have a station set up outside in the foyer for drop off!

Coldest Night of the Year

Fundraising

Every year, together with thousands of Canadians across the country, we walk and fundraise to serve hungry, homeless, and hurting people and families in our community.

Feb. 25 2023

MOSAIC INTERFAITH OUT OF THE COLD PROGRAM

York Region

On Monday nights each winter, we open our doors to those in our community experiencing homelessness or in need of food and clothing. All who come leave with a lunch for the next day and transportation tokens. For those guests who stay overnight, beds are provided for a safe, warm place to sleep and breakfast is provided in the morning.

On hold until 2023-2024 season – Stay tuned and continue to pray for the men and women who are homeless this coming winter.

THE CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTRE

MARKHAM-STOUFFVILLE

The Crisis Pregnancy Centre has served women in the Markham-Stouffville area for more than 20 years. They provide free care and support to women in unplanned pregnancies, post-abortion, and who are involved in single parenting.

THE MARKHAM FOODBANK

MARKHAM

The leanest time of the year for Canadian food banks is July – August. The Markham Food Bank has difficulty providing the minimum amount of grocery support during those months and can give very little variety.

Our annual Christmas Eve Partners offering helps to fill this gap and provide funds to purchase much needed food supplies.

CENTRE FOR DREAMS

MARKHAM

The Centre for Dreams is a place in the Markham community where adults with developmental disabilities can come to build relationships and enhance their lives through education in life skills, academics and vocational training.

In working toward the restoration of my community, I will be serving alongside my co-workers with UrbanPromise as a Ministry Supervisor. I will be involved in providing the youth of my community with a safe place to come after school, reinforcing the importance of education, modelling Godly behaviour and sharing Biblical truths. I will be dedicated to building and maintaining relationships not only with the kids, but with their whole families as well. I hope to share with them the things I have learned from being a child in the program, to being a StreetLeader, to now onboarding full time, all while also learning from the youth and community I serve.

LEADS Sri Lanka Sexual abuse is a traumatic experience that mars and scars the lives of innocent children. Annually, a tragic number of little lives are made desolate at the hands of broken people and a negligent society. LEADS supports survivors of child abuse to heal and rebuild their worth and purpose. The bridge provides monthly financial resources to help a survivor of child abuse in Jaffna receive residential or non-residential therapeutic care and legal support at a child-safe space conducive to their recovery.

CHCA has been and continues to advocate for the children of this community to receive an education and take advantage of opportunities that weren’t afforded to their parents. To-date, there are now 56 students enrolled. Through the prayers, and financial support of sponsors and donors, and the dedication of CHCA’s passionate staff, this community has come to see the tangible difference in the lives of the children who were previously enrolled in ECC school; kids who could not read or write have gone on to pursue Secondary schooling, something that is a rarity in Barahona.
