Kids will develop a sense of timing and coordination through solo and group play and promotion of listening, pitch matching, and tone quality.

For those ready to take their musical knowledge to another level, Rhythm Readers will use interactive songs and games to reinforce concepts such as beat, rhythm, melody, form, harmony, and expressive qualities. Beginning notation is also taught, along with a focus on developing coordination, concentration, and self-confidence through group singing and playing. (Prior musical experience helpful, but not necessary).

Below is a brief outline of the daily activities that will be delivered appropriately to the age group of each camp.

*Please note: Camp option 1 and 3, and camp option 2 and 4 are the same camps; they are just offered at different times.

Here is a breakdown of daily activities children will participate in, appropriate to developmental age and stage (SK-Grade 2 or Grade 3-5):

  • Monday – Math is fun. Students will practice different measuring techniques as they try to create the longest structure possible with their STEM kit. In the second session they will use their own LEGO to build a mirrored ART piece (Mosaic), using measuring and counting techniques.
  • Tuesday – Stairway to Heaven. In the first session, campers will explore different engineering techniques to build stable and tall staircases. In the second session, students will get creative in designing their dream treehouse, ensuring it is stable and meets the concepts of form and function.
  • Wednesday – Community Robot. Campers will be introduced to the concept of coding blocks and make their mini-figure perform a series of dance moves. In the second session, campers will have the opportunity to design a conceptual robotic device that would benefit their community.
  • Thursday – Going where no one has gone before! – We’ll take a few twists and turns through the galaxy, but first we must build and test an escape pod for our astronaut. Once perfected, we’ll travel to Mars where campers will imagine what they just might find on the red planet.
  • Friday – Landmark Learning – On our last day, students will apply concepts from all the subject areas in a bridge building exercise. In our final session, campers will build their own landmark structure that encompasses all aspects of the STEM curriculum.

*STEM Supply Kit will be ready for curbside pickup one to two week(s) prior to camp (materials will not need to be returned). Please stay tuned for more details.
